Using a Mobile Device
We don’t recommend using a mobile device anytime you’re driving, and in some locations, it’s actually illegal. But, if you decide that a call is important (and aren't breaking the law), use these tips to help stay focused on the road while you talk:
If you get a call:
- Consider letting it go to voicemail, especially in heavy traffic or bad weather.
- If you do answer, let the person know you’re driving; that way, you can pause the conversation if necessary.
If you make a call:
- Dial when you aren’t moving or before you pull into traffic.
- Use one-touch or speed dialing.
In general:
- Avoid stressful or emotional conversations.
- If you need information from the person you’re talking with, ask them to call back and leave it on your voicemail or text it to you.
